Editor’s Note March 2025

Caitlin Eaton

The last traces of winter are finally melting away, and with each passing day, spring feels closer than ever. The sun lingers a little longer, the air is fresh with possibility and we can’t wait to swap heavy layers for lighter, brighter pieces. It’s the perfect time to refresh our sewing projects with playful, whimsical designs that bring a little joy to our wardrobes and homes.

If you’re looking to add a touch of fun to your closet, start with Debi Schmitz’s fabulous fringe tote —both stylish and functional. Aishat Sulaiman’s dreamy tea-length bubble skirt in pastel pink is the perfect statement piece for spring. And if you’re as excited as we are about the return of blooming flowers, you won’t want to miss Debbie von Grabler-Crozier’s daffodil placemats, which bring a breath of fresh air to any table.

Hand embroidery lovers will adore Sophie Tarrant’s woodland-inspired motif, featuring dainty mushrooms and greenery. For Easter, Debbie’s colorful door banner welcomes guests with a charming bunny design, and Trixi Symonds’ Slippers the Bunny softie is a kid-approved project that’s as cuddly as it is cute. Plus, Rebecca George shares expert tips for sewing with corduroy, and our monthly wishlist is packed with inspiration.

Happy sewing!
