Spring Bouquet Floral Embroidery Pattern

New to embroidery? This spring floral embroidery pattern from designer Stephanie Woodson is perfect for those new to needlework. Featuring a bouquet of simple spring flowers, this beginner embroidery pattern shows off some handy basic stitches for creating your floral designs.   • A 10-inch (25.4 cm) square or larger woven cotton fabric scrap
  • Fusible lightweight woven interfacing
  • Hand embroidery floss – used in the example are Sulky cotton petites
    • Light pink- Dark mauve #1119
    • Dark pink – Med Burgundy #1190
    • Brown- Tawny brown #1058
    • Green- Dark avocado #1176
    • Blue- Dark turquoise #1096
    • Grey – Sterling #1295

  • Iron
  • Hand embroidery needle
  • 7.5-inches (19 cm) embroidery hoop

  1. Iron your woven cotton to remove wrinkles and then trace or transfer the Floral Pattern Template onto the front of the fabric. Then use your iron to adhere the interfacing to the back of the woven cotton fabric. Insert into the embroidery hoop and tighten, then begin stitching as shown in the diagram.
  2. Stitches used in the example are listed on the pattern. Stitch the bottle first, leaving the front lip of the opening alone. Stitch all the stems next, and then stitch the front lip and then finish the rest of the flowers.
  3. Finish the back of the embroidery piece and display.
