Editor’s Note April 2023

Caitlin Eaton

Spring has officially arrived! It was a slow start here in the Midwest (the snow JUST stopped a couple days ago) but the signs are now undeniable.  Whether you’re looking for ways to reuse fabric (or bedsheets) or wanting to whip up something new and fresh for the change in seasons, this issue is packed with fun and thrifty ideas. First up, let’s get creative and explore two ways to repurpose old or thrifted bedsheets. Turn simple, striped sheets into a sweet spring sundress with the Calla Upcycled Sheet Spring Dress. Or, have fun mixing and matching colors and prints by crafting your own beautiful sheet quilt. Next, have fun raiding your own fabric stash to make an adorable Sunbonnet Sue quilt block or braid your scraps into a colorful rag rug. Its bold hues will add a touch of spring whimsy to any room. Also included in this issue is a brand new tutorial on sewing chiffon, a burp cloth pattern for the new moms in your life and a gorgeous (and functional) sports bra in a bold lemon hue.

Happy spring sewing,
