Editor’s Note December 2023

Caitlin Eaton

Depending on where you live, it may have already happened: the first snowfall! In Wisconsin, the snow disappeared as quickly as it came, but the drastic change in weather has me officially in holiday mode. If you’re feeling the magic, too, we have a special holiday-focused issue that will make winter seem even ore more magical this year. We know with dipping temps comes an increase in the need for all-things cozy! That’s why you won’t want to miss these two pieces: Stephanie Woodson’s upcycled scarf and designer Traci Anderson’s adorable, comfy joggers. Next, take your holiday decorating up a notch and sew your own breathtaking luminaries with this month’s cover project from designer Don Morin. Pair them with Debbie von Grabler-Croziers’s festive treat bags and a log cabin tree skirt and your home will be transformed right before your eyes. Still looking for a homemade gift idea that won’t take a week to sew? Make your own quilted iPad case with this new pattern from Ann Butler. We’re also taking some time to share some of our favorite tips and tricks for sewing with satin and more! We hope you enjoy this special issue.

Happy sewing,
