Editor’s Note October 2023

Caitlin Eaton

Welcome to October! It’s that perfect time of year where the weather is cool but not too cold, the pumpkin patches are open for business and apple-picking season is in full swing. We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate autumn with a brand new issue of We Like Sewing! And no tricks this time — only treats! Start off by sewing the cutest costume ever: an adorable baby bat featuring a hood with ears and bat wings sewn directly under the arms. Give your wardrobe a chic upgrade with a fantastic blazer update from designer Olu Falola. Try your hand at floral appliqué with this month’s adorable (and fall friendly) baby quilt. Then, get ready for Thanksgiving by sewing some favorites for the kitchen and guests, including an adult bib pattern, quick-and-easy sewn bowl cozies and a casserole carrier pattern that’s practical and stylish. Finally, expand your knowledge by diving into Rebecca George’s latest article on how to sew fleece. With an updated trends report from editor Ashley Jones, our favorite products and more, this issue has something for everyone to love.

Happy sewing,
