Materials:

  • 1 1/2 (1 1/2, 1 1/2, 1 1/2, 1 5/8, 1 5/8, 1 3/4 , 1 3/4, 1 3/4 ) yards 54” wide mid-weight cotton twill or denim
  • 9” zipper
  • 2 packages coordinating extra wide double fold bias tape
  • 1 set hook and eye
  • Coordinating sewing thread

PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Cutting Instructions:

  • Skirt Front – cut one on fold
  • Skirt Back – cut 2
  • Front Facing – cut one on fold
  • Back Facing – cut 2

Transfer all markings.

Sewing Instructions:

  1. Fold each pleat along stitch lines with right sides together (RST), then sew each pleat on Front and Back from the top to the marked dot. Press the fabric into a box pleat with an equal amount folded to either side of the seam. Press all pleats all the way to the hem.
  2. Sew center back seam, leaving the top 9” basted for zipper placement. Press seam open. Install zipper.
  3. Sew Front to Back, matching side notches. Press side seams open.
  4. Sew Front Facing to Back Facing along side seams, matching notches, leaving the center back open. Press seams open.
  5. Topstitch seam binding over lower raw edge of assembled Skirt hem and assembled Facing.
  6. With right sides facing, sew Facing to Skirt hem, matching side seams.
  7. Turn Facing to wrong side of skirt. Press, turning under 1/2” seam allowance along back hem facing.
  8. Sew Front & Back Facing to Skirt waist, then under stitch the waist seam.
  9. Turn up hem 1 1/4” and topstitch into place.
  10. By hand, tack the back facing opening along the zipper, and add a hook and eye closure at the top of the zipper.
