  • 1/2 yard dense wool or wool blend felted fabric
  • Matching 50-weight thread


  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Tailor’s chalk
  • Pins
  • Hand sewing needles



  1. Panel A: Measure and cut an even circle with a diameter of 10 (11, 12)’’.
  2. Panel B: Measure and cut a second even circle with a diameter of 10 (11, 12)’’, then cut out an even circle with a diameter of 7’’. Remove the smaller circle.
  3. Panel C: Cut a strip of fabric measuring 2 1/2’’ by 23’’.


  1. Fold over both short edges of Panel C and seam together using a 1/2’’ seam allowance to create a ring. The raw seam side is the wrong side.
  2. Pin Panel C around the inside of Panel B with the wrong side of Panel C facing inside. Stitch around the inside edge using a 1/4’’ seam allowance.
  3. With right sides together, pin around Panels A and B. Stitch around the outside edge using a 1/2’’ seam allowance. Turn right side out.
  4. Fold the ring of Panel C with wrong sides facing up to the inner seamline. With thread and a hand sewing needle, stitch down the raw edge to the seamline using a whipstitch or blanket stitch.
  5. Clip all excess threads to finish.
