"Quilting is a fun and forgiving entry to the world of artmaking, and should be a joyful, healing, learning, and soul-satisfying activity," says Cathy Perlmutter, who has been doing it for more than 30 years. During a career in journalism, in 1991, Cathy Perlmutter made an impulse visit to a quilt show. It astounded her; and she decided to give it a shot. Gradually, the hobby took over her life.
