Jo Carter is the soft toy designer behind Two Owls Design.
With 20 years’ experience in soft toy design, she started out turning company logos and mascots into prototype soft toys for factory production, then moving on to designing original toy and quilt patterns for magazines and now for her own business.
Her work has appeared in Love Patchwork and Quilting, Simply Sewing, and Love Sewing magazines, along with other books and bookazines. The Beginner’s Guide to Toymaking, a collection of 29 of her patterns, was published by Immediate Media in 2019. She appeared as a regular guest demonstrator on the Sewing Quarter shopping television channel.
Jo wants to share her love of sewing and the affirmative joy of making by hand (and sewing machine!) by creating accessible patterns and kits with thorough instructions that guide through every step of the process. Her fabrics are chosen for their quality, texture, and feel and always have a woven back for ease of marking and cutting out.
Last but not least: all templates are always given at full-size because having to enlarge templates is one of her pet peeves!
