Instructions
- Gather your stamps, ink pad, and muslin.
- Stamp out your desired pattern. You can easily see exactly where to place your stamps because they have no lip and can lined up easily.
- Heat set with an iron.
- Sandwich stamped muslin with batting and a backing of muslin and machine quilt between the stamped blocks.
You can easily see the machine quilting in the below photo, which shows the back of the fabric.
- Print out your Heart pattern onto a piece of card stock and cut out.
- Place the pattern onto your quilted fabric and determine placement. Pin and cut out.
- Stitch between the stamped blocks as desired with floss.
- Cut a piece of muslin using the pattern for the back of the pin cushion.
- Place right sides together and machine stitch around the heart, leaving an opening for turning.
- Clip around the heart, being sure not to clip into the stitching; this will make for easier turning.
- Turn to the right side and press with iron.
- Add about a teaspoon of Glasslets into the pin cushion. This will give it some weight.
- Fill with Poly-fil®, being sure not to over stuff.
- Stitch the opening closed.
Designer Tips
- Pre-wash all of your fabric.
- Iron your fabric before cutting.
- Ann Butler stamps are patented and go together like puzzle pieces to create a seamless background and quilt patterns.
- This pattern was created with 8 one-inch triangles surrounded by assorted two-inch squares, which made it easy to have a focal point for the pin cushion.
- You can use sand instead of Glasslets to add a bit of weight.
- Use metallic floss for an extra POP to your stitching.
