Materials:

  • 2 yards of woven fabric
    • Recommended fabrics: Medium weight WOVEN fabric such as tencel twill, cotton sateen, denim, linen, chambray, etc.
  • Coordinating polyester thread
  • Regular needle
  • 2 yards of 1’’ elastic (depending on your pattern size, the amount of elastic needed can vary from 1.6 to 2 yards of elastic)

Before you begin, a few notes on printing this pattern from the designer:

  • This printable PDF pattern is assembled BY OVERLAPPING THE PAGES 1/2 inch, then matching triangles together.
  • This pattern is available in A4 and Letter options (This will make it easier to assemble and reduce fitting issues.)
  • To print this pattern, open the PDF document. Select FILE — PRINT. Choose the ACTUAL SIZE or SCALE 100%.

CUTTING LAYOUT AND FABRIC REQUIREMENTS:

Note: Through this tutorial, you will see TWO main colors to easily identify the side of the fabric OR piece you are working with.

PREPARING YOUR PATTERN PIECES:

  1. Wash your fabrics before cutting to prevent shrinking.
  2. It is recommended to make a muslin or use a cheap fabric to check that the fitting and style of the pattern is exactly what you are looking for.
  3. Read the instructions carefully before starting this pattern.
  4. Gather all supplies you will need for this project.
  5. It is recommended to practice on areas and techniques that you are not familiar with, before doing them on the final project.

Instructions:

  1. Bring the front bodice to the table.
  2. Bring the back bodice to the table and place both parts together, right sides facing.
  3. Stitch the side seams with a 3/8 inch seam allowance. Press both seams flat.
  4. Fold the hemline with a 1’’ seam allowance. Press flat.
  5. Bring the sleeves to the table.
  6. Fold the sleeve in half and press flat. Then, stitch the sleeve with a 3/8 inch seam allowance. Press again and turn to the right side of the fabric.
  7. Bring the sleeves to the table. Insert into the bodice and match the seams.
  8. Stitch the seams with a 3/8 inch seam allowance all the way to the top raw edges. Press flat.
  9. Turn the sleeves to the wrong side of the fabric.
  10. Bring the elastic to the table. Fold the elastic in half and stitch the seam with a 1/8 inch seam allowance, using a zig zag stitch.
  11. Insert the elastic into the neckline. Fold the neckline seam down over elastic with a 3/8 inch seam allowance. Press and pin.
  12. Fold the neckline with the elastic again. Pin and stitch the neckline with a 1/8 inch seam allowance.
  13. Repeat Steps 10 -12 with the sleeve cuffs.
