Editor’s Note April 2022

Caitlin Eaton

Spring has finally arrived! Flowers are in bloom, days are brighter and warmer, and there’s a feeling of renewed energy in the air. That’s why our April 2022 issue is all about rejuvenating your creative spirit with fun and colorful sewing patterns!

Refresh your sewing room by designing a cute hanging organizer made with brilliantly colored fabric scraps. This stash-busting sewing project, designed by Pam Voth, uses little hexie pockets to store your tiny necessities! The Get a Grip Quilted Pot Holder and Jar Opener from Jessie Agnew will inject some playfulness into your kitchen and its dual uses make it a perfect housewarming gift.

We’ve all had fabrics that are too pretty to pass up, so let designer Sophie Tarrant show you how to highlight gorgeous prints in two stunning patterns. First up, you’ll learn how to refashion a plain garment by using easy applique techniques with the Take Flight Upcycled Applique Top. Then, choose a beautiful floral print and design a vibrant set of spring coasters to add a pop of color into your home décor.

Update your wardrobe for spring by creating two showstoppers, the Pasadena Sunrise Jumpsuit and the Kaleidoscope Simple Spring Shrug! Kimberly Payne’s jumpsuit (pictured on our cover) will be your go-to transitional piece this spring and can be layered with your favorite tee or cardigan. Quayln Stark’s spring shrug is a dreamy accessory for breezy days and can be made for colder weather as well. Find all of these innovative projects, as well as helpful sewing tips, embellishing ideas, and more in our newest issue!

Happy Sewing,

I hope some of the patterns suit larger ‘ladies’ like me! Regrettably, many recent patterns were very attractive but simply too small for me to sew!

Hi Caroline! Thanks so much for writing to us. We’re always looking for ways to be more inclusive to our readers! I will make a note of this as we plan for future issues. You may enjoy the Kaleidoscope Spring Shrug found in our April issue; instead of a printable pattern, it can be made to fit the wearer’s size. Have a great day! – Ashley, WeLikeSewing
