Welcome to our October issue of We Like Sewing! This month, we’re all about embracing the warmth and nostalgia that autumn brings — whether through moody florals, vintage-inspired designs, or a minimalist palette. From the chic elegance of Andini Wijendaru’s tulip hem blouse to Debbie von Grabler-Crozier’s autumnal coiled rope bowl, this issue has everything you need to add fall flair to your wardrobe and home. And for those looking to prep for spooky season, Kathleen Berlew’s harlequin throw pillow will bring just the right retro touch. We hope these projects inspire you to make the most of this season — one stitch at a time.

So where do I find these vintage sewing patterns that speak to me? Honestly, everywhere! I’ve found some fun finds online, have been gifted vintage patterns from friends and have spent countless hours digging through bins at my local thrift stores before I emerge triumphant with a single McCall’s 1970s maxi dress pattern. Searching for vintage sewing patterns isn’t just about the end product (a fab sewn garment) but about the hunt as well, which is why I’m sharing my favorite tips for searching for vintage sewing patterns.
