Editor’s Note August 2022

It’s almost time to say goodbye to summer sewing and hello to everything fall! And wow, is this issue packed full of inspiring projects for you to sew.  Start with a wardrobe staple: a classic trench coat by designer Kimberly Payne. Including a gorgeous magenta lining, a timeless camel exterior and available in sizes 0-34, this coat is a must-sew project for the upcoming season. Next, try your hand at quilted wearbles with our brand new quilted vest from designer Meg Healy. Featuring deep side pockets, a flattering tie waist and drafting instructions to walk you through the creation process that results in a unique piece sized especially for you.

Have an older shirt or dress that needs a refresh? Why not create an custom oversized collar to layer over your existing piece? The Simple Detachable Statement Collars by designer Janice Bailor will show how simple this process can be. Plus, learn how to update an older dress for summer with a brand new upcycling tutorial from designer Quayln Stark.

And if you ask me, it’s never too early to start holiday sewing. Our brand new Christmas corner section features two inspiring projects to try: First Snowfall Patchwork Quilt Block and Couched Yarn Christmas Tree Pillow.

Happy Sewing,
