Our readers know how much we love a seasonal trend round-up, and as we start to shift to fall style and fashion, we’re back with all the style trends we’re loving for Fall 2025. From trending colors and silhouettes to forecasted trends from social media, we’re sharing the trends we can’t wait to make this autumn. If you can’t wait to start on a brand-new project, then you’re in luck, because we’ve included links to some of our favorite sewing patterns so that you can start sewing tonight. Want to keep coming back to this article all season long? Be sure to hit the Favorites button, so that you can easily find this article whenever you need to. Now, let’s dive in!
- Keychain Culture – Everyone has an opinion about Labubus and while those opinions range from “adorable” to “wasteful,” we are enjoying the resurgence of cute, oversized keychains on backpacks, bags and even water bottles. A carryover from the 90s when stores like The Icing and Gadzooks ruled the mall, we’ve been seeing keychains, including sewn, quilted, and DIY keychain charms, popular on social media. Expect to see this trend carry over into 2026, with a focus on tiny stuffed animal charms. Want to sew your own? Don’t miss these Bring a Smile Emoji Lip Balm Cases from Christy Jones (August 2024)!
- Pretty in Plum – 2025 has been filled with a lot of unexpected color trends (more on that later) but one thing we can always count on are fall jewel tones. By far the most popular for this fall is plum, a rich blend of warmer burgundy and deep purple that instantly elevates any outfit. Look to see plum trending on classic fall accessories like scarves and gloves, as well as a rise in this color on fall and winter eveningwear and outerwear.
- Wide-Leg Pants – Skinny jeans have long been left in the dust and the popular bootcut and straight-leg trends of the past few years have made way for wide-leg jeans and trousers. From loose-fit trousers to oversized wide-leg jeans, the combination of fitted tops and wider leg bottoms has been the reigning silhouette of the past year. Look to see sailor-inspired pants for early fall in light-weight fabrics, and elegant, draped pants in luxe fabrics to trend closer to winter. Searching for structured pants with a loose-fitting leg? You might enjoy the Dietrich Loose-Leg Pleated Trousers Pattern from Kimberly Payne (February 2023).
- Gothic Romance – Although perhaps slightly more niche, with popular fall aesthetics on social media sites like Tiktok and last year’s adaptation of Nosferatu, we’re expecting to see a rise in gothic-inspired looks as we near Halloween. Red and black sheer mesh and lace tops, high Victorian-esque collars, and corset-inspired details have been seen from brands like Modcloth and Hot Topic, and we expect to see this combination of dark color palettes and intricate, romantic details remain popular this fall.
- Pastels All Year – One of the most surprising trends of 2025, pastels have remained popular throughout the year, including for Fall/Winter 2025. Butter yellow specifically was seen on runways throughout this year, and this soft shade would look so pretty when combined with classic fall colors like burnt orange and olive green. Looking for a chic way to rock pastels this fall? Aishat Sulaiman’s Celia Bubble Skirt Pattern was originally featured in our March 2025 issue, but we think it would look gorgeous paired with a chunky sweater and fall booties.
- Animal Prints – Last year, leopard print made a huge comeback and was featured in clothing, accessories, and home décor, but this fall, look to see black and white animal prints trending. Prints like Dalmatian and zebra would look stunning on bags and scarves as we shift from fall to winter. Dalmatians themselves have been trending in home décor, from framed wall art to kitschy accent pieces.
- Classic Prep Reimagined – Classic preppy looks for fall aren’t anything new but look for boxier, cropped cuts on traditional preppy staples like polos this year. Large, oversized stripes were found in multiple collections this year, while social media has shown creators adding dainty details to classic sportswear, such as ribbons in place of shoelaces on sneakers or patchwork on henleys or polo tops. Don’t miss the Addison Bomber Jacket Pattern from Lauren Merciris in this issue, which features a classic bomber jacket in a chic color palette with fun, unexpected details.
